WELCOME TO SKULLGAL.COM 1.13.09 Happy New Year, everyone! Here's what I've been up to: Bracaglia has posted two tracks on their myspace featuring my vocals: "Live By The Sword" and "Falling Star." This has been an fabulous experience. Tony's an amazing player, an inspiration, and very patient. I feel that the work I've done on "Falling Star" is some of my best ever. My hope is that the listeners agree. We'll certainly be working on more music in 2009 so make sure you keep an eye on Bracaglia! Regarding other Skullgal-related doings, I've been busy working at the day job, learning Krav Maga (it fucking ROCKS) and contemplating a new tattoo. Have a growing stack of books to read. Perhaps I will post a list of my faves in hopes of inspiring a few of you to sit down and read... not enough people take the time any more. 12.24.08 I quit Fury yesterday. Just wasn't working out. One of those things. The experience was good and the demo tracks we did were fun. I wish we could have played a live show but, eh... just wasn't meant to be. Onto other things: Tony Bracagila - check out "Live By The Sword" on his page. Am working on two new songs as well. Chris Clark of Poseidon's Anger and I just did a theme song for the Rocky Mountain Rage hockey team. I don't know if they'll use it - sure would be nice. It's a fun song, kind of like "Rock and Roller Derby" from Ignitor. If Chris is cool with me posting it I'll put it up here for ya'll to listen. If you've never heard the track I did for Chris, it's "Ching Shih" on his myspace. And of course, Drifter continues to kick ass around Texas bringing our version of Iron Maiden to the hungry masses. I've got other projects in the works as well. All in all, it's been a VERY metal year. Wishing you all the merriest of Christmases, or at least an enjoyable evening if you don't celebrate the coming ol' Saint Nick. 11.5.08 For Immediate release 11/4/08: New Fury song featuring former Ignitor vocalist now streaming Fury are proud to release their first demo track featuring former Ignitor vocalist
Erika. Unrequited", a previously unreleased
track from the "Betrayed' sessions, is now fully realized with dynamic,
emotional vocals of Erika complimenting some of Matt's best songwriting to date.
It's just a taste of whats to come from the Fury camp in 2008/2009.
9.23.08 I finally put samples on the MUSIC page! Go check them out! 9.22.08 I really need to do better with these updates! So... what's new, you ask? The Fury train is rolling along at a nice, steady speed. We've got 4 songs almost finished. It's just a matter of time now before we hit the stage. I'm very excited. The new, more aggressive vocal style I'm adopting is suiting me well. Thanks to everyone who has given supportive and positive feedback. Tony B. in Florida got his Demo track from me the other week and was pleased. I am waiting patiently for more music from him. He's an amazing player. Check out his myspace! Also had a nice chat with Chris Clark(Poseidon's Anger) about how his new endeavor is coming along. As it is with all of us, he's busy, but the guy is dedicated! Make sure you keep an eye on him; he's got big plans and the gumption to make 'em happen! What else, what else? Gonna update the MUSIC page this week - vastly overdue. 7.30.08 More musical news from me! Another project ya'll should check out - Poseidon's Anger. I wrote lyrics and performed vocals on the track "Ching Shih." Many thanks to Chris Clark for presenting me with this opportunity. I enjoyed learning about Madame Ching Shih, a pirate from the early 1800s who ruled the China seas with an enormous armada of ships. She was quite the ball-buster. You can order a copy of the Poseidon's Anger CD "War of the Gods" on Poseidon's Anger's myspace. I will also be performing on Chris' next project, so make sure to check the PA myspace often! On the Fury front, we're working on stuff slowly. We're all stupid busy. I have a LOT of lyrics already written so we just need to match them to songs. I am hoping for a quick turnaround time on a full length album. We're all very stoked. Drifter's got a show coming up this Saturday at Room 710 in Austin. If you want to sweat to some heavy metal oldies, this will be the place to do it. Up the Irons! As for my book - I'll be honest. I'm stalled. I'm stuck. I don't have time with band crap and going to as many shows as possible (Ozzfest next weekend YEAH), exercising and trying to spend time with friends and fam. The days are only so long and a girl needs at least 5 hrs of sleep a night. But you know, someday Apocalypse Gods will come out, perhaps after I blow out my voice singing for Fury! 7.17.08 HOLEEE SMOKES HAVE I BEEN LAZY! Exciting news! Check the press release below! Austin shredder Matt Fury has joined forces with former Ignitor vocalist Erika for what promises to be an explosive collaboration. Matt, who has been wowing listeners for years with his explosive Guitar style felt that Erika's air-raid siren delivery would be the perfect flame to put toward his tinderbox of new tunes. Heavy riffs, angry screams and grim lyrics will combine and detonate. Texas will be but a blast-mark in the desert as these two powerhouses set out to scorch the world. 2008 is going to go out with a bang if these two have their way. 3.30.08 Drifter added a show in San Antonio in April. Check the Calendar! Not much else to report. Been distracted by work and other things so my book has sadly, ground to a halt. I need to kick myself in the ass and get back into it. 3.6.08 OMG a website update! Check out the Ignitor and Drifter galleries - I finally posted pics using some gallery software. My myspace works again, hooray! I've been hard at work on my novel. Have 50,000 words already, which is approx 1/3 of the first book complete. Between that and the plethora of great metal shows coming to and around Austin these days, I haven't had much time for anything else. Check out the Calendar page for new Drifter shows! 1.21.08 Hey everybody! Sorry for the lack of updates; I've been busy. I've decided to start revising my dystopian sci-fi novel I wrote back in the 90s. Most of my free time has been dedicated to that. For some dumb reason, I haven't been able to log into my myspace for the last week. I'm not panicking yet but if it's not back in a couple weeks, it may be time to admit my profile got hosed. I hope not. That would suck! Check out the Calendar page for new Drifter shows! 12.14.07 Yes, it's true - I am out of Ignitor. If you want to read more about the whys and wherefores, please visit my blog. There's no way I'm out of metal though! I'm still doing Drifter, and am interested in doing session work for metal bands. Please email me if you're interested in including me on a project, and we'll talk! 12.06.07 Happy Holidays everyone! Sorry I've not updated in a while. Just did a major update to the Art section. Only a few more pieces to load and then I'll have to start making new art! I promise I'll get the Drifter and Ignitor galleries finished before Santa's on his way. I hope you're all having a pleasant Holiday season, however you decide to celebrate. 11.11.07 More Updates! Check out the Gallery for some new Art - album covers and leatherwork! I'm still working on picking out Ignitor and Drifter pics. 10.27.07 Updates! Check out the Gallery for some new updates: Autumn Tears, Art and Videos. I haven't had time for much else - been busy making stagewear for Drifter, practicing and playing gigs. Check back next week for more updates in the Friends, Drifter, and Ignitor sections of the Gallery. 10.21.07 Greetings, visitors! Thank you for visiting my website. Here you'll find the latest news about Erika, heavy metal vocalist, writer, artist, and general all around metal dork. Why Skullgal.com? Well, I am a collector of things dead, both recently and ancient. Eventually you'll find some photos of my skull, bone and fossil collection. What can I say, I'd rather dust my pets than feed them. Please be patient while I get the site up and running. I suck at HTML. Check the Calendar for upcoming Drifter shows, where I'll be belting out Maiden classics with my boys Stony, Pete, Joe and Marc! |
